La Scuola dell’Infanzia è la prima scuola dei bambini e delle bambine. Dai tre ai sei anni li accompagna nel loro processo di crescita personale e culturale, in un contesto educativo caratterizzato da cura, attenzione e intenzionalità educativa.
La scuola dell’infanzia promuove gli apprendimenti accompagnando ciascun bambino e bambina dal vissuto al conosciuto attraverso il fare, l’esperienza, l’esplorazione diretta insieme agli altri, in una dimensione di gioco e di dialogo con i compagni, le cose del mondo e della natura, i saperi, con la guida degli educatori e la partecipazione delle famiglie.
La scuola ha come finalità la promozione dell’identità, lo sviluppo dell’autonomia , della competenza, e della cittadinanza come primo approccio alla convivenza sociale, in un ambiente rassicurante di vita e di relazioni, in contesti stimolanti di apprendimento, in un dialogo sociale ed educativo con le famiglie e con la comunità.
La scuola dell’infanzia organizza il percorso formativo, le proposte educative e didattiche attraverso i campi d’esperienza, ambiti del fare e del sapere, attraverso cui promuovere e moltiplicare l’incontro dei bambini con la cultura, linguaggi, immagini, parole, cose e fatti del mondo e delle relazioni in una dimensione attiva del fare, dell’esplorare, del conoscere e del pensare insieme agli altri .

Le sezioni, dove possibile, sono organizzate secondo il criterio dell’omogeneità dell’età:
- 3 sezioni: tre anni
- 3 sezioni: quattro anni
- 2 sezioni: cinque anni
- 1 sezione: mista (4/5 anni)
La Scuola dell’Infanzia “Villa Charitas” ha sede in un edificio dei primi del 900 nel pieno centro della città di Prato, Dispone di 9 aule distribuite su due piani con ampi spazi comuni allestiti per le diverse attività e un grande e attrezzato giardino.
La scuola dell’infanzia funziona dal lunedì al venerdì dalle ore 8,30 alle ore 16,30.
La scuola con il supporto del Comune offre, su richiesta, il servizio di pre e post scuola, (7,30-8,30 e 16,30-17,30) e dello scuolabus. I pasti della mensa scolastica sono preparati dalla cucina interna.

SENIOR KINDERGARTEN “VILLA CHARITAS”
The kindergarten welcomes children from 3 to 6 years of age in an educational environment of care, relationship and learning. Its objectives are the promotion of identity, development of personal independence, competence and citizenship as the primary approach to social coexistence.
Learning, in a playful dimension, takes place through activity, experience, focused exploration and re- elaboration in learning paths that guide the children to awareness. The kindergarten works with families in an open educational dialogue to build relationships of trust and new bonds of community.
SCHOOL TIME
The school operates 5 days per week (from Monday to Friday) for 8 hours of daily activity: admission 8.30 am – exit 4.30 pm
The classes, where possible, are organized by the children’s age: 3 years / 4 years / 5 years
Each moment of the day is characterised by educational intentionality, by flexible times and by a variety of age-appropriate educational proposals that enrich the child’s experience. Consideration in given to the alternation between tasks and moments of play, between free activities and those structured in workshops organised by age groups such as:
- Scientific
- Phonological
- Theatre
- Health education
- Experimental – scientific · Physical education
- Linguistics · Expressivity · Music
At the time of enrollment, parents can choose whether to avail of Catholic religion or an alternative teaching.
The school schedules several occasions for parent-teacher meetings: at the beginning of the school year for the presentation of the school organization and directions regarding the insertion of children; three meetings during the school year to talk about the children’s school performance. Each class elects a parent as the representative for everyone else, who maintains the relationship between the school and families and meets the team of teachers at the scheduled meetings.
Requests for the canteen and school transport must be submitted to the Education Office of the Town Council. For health or religious reasons, it is possible to request an alternative menu by presenting a medical certificate and/or self-certification to the Education Office of the Town Council.

SCHOOL SERVICES
The Pre/Post School service may be paid on a family’s request, which allows students to access the school one hour before the commencement of school lessons (7.30am) and to remain for an hour after their completion (17.30pm).
